Описание

This Standard covers process heating systems that are defined asa group (or a set, or combination) of heating equipment used forheating materials in the production of goods in an industrialplant. These systems, commonly referred to using terms such asfurnaces, melters, ovens, and heaters, use heat sources such asfuels, electricity, steam or other fluids to supply the requiredheat.

This Standard sets the requirements for conducting and reportingthe results of a process heating energy assessment (hereafterreferred to as an assessment) that considers the entire system, from energy inputs to the work performed as the result of theseinputs. An assessment meeting this standard need not address eachindividual system component or specific system within an industrialfacility with equal weight; however, it shall be sufficientlycomprehensive to identify the major energy efficiency opportunitiesfor improving the overall energy performance of the system. ThisStandard is designed to be applied primarily at industrialfacilities, but many of the concepts can be used in otherfacilities such as those in the institutional and commercialsectors.

Use of this Standard and accompanying Guidance Document shouldincrease the quantity and quality of energy assessments performed, with significant potential savings in implemented energycosts.

Intended for energy managers, facilitymanagers, plant engineers, maintenance managers, plant managers, environmental health and safety managers, plus others across abroad range of industries.
