This Section provides requirements for design, fabrication,installation and inspection of steam heating, hot water heating,hot water supply boilers, and potable water heaters intended forlow pressure service that are directly fired by oil, gas,electricity, coal or other solid or liquid fuels. It containsappendices which cover approval of new material, methods ofchecking safety valve and safety relief valve capacity, examples ofmethods of checking safety valve and safety relief valve capacity,examples of methods of calculation and computation, definitionsrelating to boiler design and welding, and quality control systems.Rules pertaining to use of the H, HV, and HLW Code symbol stampsare also included.

This publication is issued with an automatic addendaservice.  All addenda service publications are issued in looseleaf format to facilitate later insertion of replacement pageswhich incorporate the latest approved changes to thestandard.  Purchasers may wish to purchase a binder from ASME(BPVC Binder), but the publication will alsofit a standard three ring binder.  The addenda serviceincludes all updates issued prior to publication of the nextedition in July 2013.
