5.1 This test procedure is used to determine the concentration of BaP extracted from carbon black by the means of a Soxhlet extraction apparatus with toluene.

Область применения

1.1 Thistest method covers the qualitative and quantitative determinationof only benzo-α-pyrene (BaP), a specific polycyclic aromatichydrocarbon (PAH), on carbon black. The procedure involves Soxhletextraction with toluene and analysis by gas chromatography withmass spectrometry (GC/MS). This method is not intended to test forU.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA 21 CFR 178.3297) complianceof carbon blacks used for indirect food contact applications.
