This International Standard provides guidance for the library and information services community on the
collection and reporting of statistics
for the purposes of international reporting,
to ensure conformity between countries for those statistical measures that are frequently used by library
managers but do not qualify for international reporting,
to encourage good practice in the use of statistics for the management of library and information services,
to specify data provision required by ISO 11620.
Diese Norm stellt für das Bibliotheks- und Informationswesen eine Anleitung zur Erhebung und Meldung von Statistiken dar: zum Zweck internationaler Berichterstattung; um Übereinstimmung zwischen den Ländern hinsichtlich derjenigen Statistiken herzustellen, die von Bibliotheksleitungen häufig benutzt werden, aber nicht für internationale Berichterstattung geeignet sind; um gute Praxis in der Nutzung von Statistiken für das Management von Bibliotheks- und Informationsdiensten zu fördern; um Statistiken genau zu beschreiben, die für ISO 11620 notwendig sind.
