This method is for determining individual C₆ throughC₁₀ aromatic compounds in petroleum distillates oraromatic concentrates having a final boiling point of 210°C orlower. C₁₁ and heavier aromatics are reported as agroup. C₁₀ and heavier non-aromatics may interfere withthe determination of benzene and toluene. When this occurs, benzeneand toluene can be determined by ASTM Methods D 5443, D 5580,D6729, or D 6839, or UOP Methods 690, or 870. Other applicationsfor this method include the assay of any C₁₀ or lowerboiling aromatics, such as benzene, toluene, mixed xylenes, etc.This method may also be used to provide a distribution ofC₈ aromatics and/or C₉ and heavier aromaticsto a value determined by a different method. When used for any ofthe above applications, the quantitation limit for a singlearomatic component is 0.01 mass-%.
