Over the past 20 years, there has been a growing revival in theuse of traditional materials for the restoration and maintenance ofhistoric buildings and structures. The pivotal role of naturalcement in 19th and early 20th Century construction has beenrediscovered, but new research is required to update and redefineour understanding of traditional materials and performanceexpectations in terms of modern standards and testingprotocols.
