This document is the ASME B&PV Code, Section VIII, Division 1example problem manual.  The example problems in this manualfollow the design-by-rule methods in ASME B&PV Code, SectionVIII, Division 1.  Many of the example problems are alsosolved using ASME B&PV Code, Section VIII, Division 2design-by-rule procedures contained in Part 4 of this Code usingthe allowable stress from  Division 1.  In addition,where the design rules are the same, the  Division 2 formathas been used in this example problem manual because of theuser-friendliness of these rules.  With this approach, usersof Division 1 will become familiar and adept at using Division 2,and this will also provide a significant training benefit to theDivision 1 user, in that Division 2 has been designed as the homefor the common rules initiative being undertaken by the ASMESection VIII Committee.
