This standard covers protective fusion-bonded coatings for the interiorand exterior surfaces of ductile-iron and gray-iron fittings used forraw water, potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems. The standard covers the material, application, and performance requirements for these coatings.

Major revisions made to the standard in this edition include the following:

1. The standard was revised to incorporate fusion-bonded polyolefin coatings and linings in addition to the original fusion bonded epoxy coatings and linings.
2. The scope was expanded to include raw water applications.
3. Definitions were added for potable water, raw water, reclaimed water and wastewater.
4. A new section on certification was added to include a requirement for NSF/ANSI 61 certification on products if they will be in contact with potable water.
