This standard covers rubber-gasket joints of the following types for ductile-iron pressure pipe and ductile-iron and gray-iron fittings, valves, hydrants, and other appurtenances for water supply service: mechanical joint; push-on joint; flanged joint; and modifications to push-on and mechanical joints. The purpose of this standard is to provide purchasers, manufacturers, and constructors with the minimum requirements for rubber-gasket joints for ductile-iron pressure pipe and fittings, including materials, design, inspection, testing, marking, and shipping.
