This test method covers the determination of trace, minor, and major elements in waste streams by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) following an acid digestion of the sample. Waste streams from manufacturing processes of nuclear and non-nuclear materials can be analyzed. This test method is applicable to the determination of total metals. Results from this test method can be used to characterize waste received by treatment facilities and to formulate appropriate treatment recipes. The results are also usable in process control within waste treatment facilities.
Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee C26 on Nuclear Fuel Cycle, this test method was withdrawn in January 2014. This standard is being withdrawn without replacement because it was originally developed to support the industry along with an analysis method. The analysis method was never completed. The fusion flux described in this method is still.
Значение и использованиеThis practice is useful for the preparation of specimens of ore bodies for the analysis of uranium by X-ray emission. Two separate preparation techniques are described.
Область применения1.1 This practice covers the preparation of uranium ore samples to be analyzed by X-ray emission. Two separate techniques, the glass fusion method or the pressed powder method, may be used.
1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
