Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee C03 on Chemical-Resistant Nonmetallic Materials, this specification was withdrawn in January 2021 in accordance with section 10.6.3 of the Regulations Governing ASTM Technical Committees, which requires that standards shall be updated by the end of the eighth year since the last approval date.
РефератThis specification covers the requirements for sulfur polymer cement and sulfur modifier for use in rapid setting and high strength applications of chemical-resistant sulfur concrete. There are currently two types of commercial sulfur concrete technology in use: Type 1; and Type 2. Both utilize cyclopentadiene-type hydrocarbons reacted polymerically with sulfur, but the sulfur concrete production processes differ. In Type 1, sulfur concrete uses sulfur polymer cement made by reacting a blend of dicyclopentadiene and oligomers of cyclopentadiene with sulfur. In Type 2, sulfur concrete uses a sulfur modifier made by reacting sulfur with an oligomeric polymer of cyclopentadiene. The sulfur polymer cement for use in Type 1, and the sulfur modifier for use in Type 2, shall conform to the chemical and physical requirements for sulfur, carbon, hydrogen, specific gravity, and viscosity. Particles of sulfur polymer cement and sulfur modifier shall be small enough to melt efficiently when exposed to heated aggregate while minimizing the amount of dust particles to reduce potential dust hazards. Sulfur polymer cement and sulfur modifier shall be sampled and tested to determine sulfur content, carbon content, hydrogen content, specific gravity, and viscosity.
