Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee D06 on Paper and Paper Products, this specification was withdrawn in August 2014 in accordance with Section 10.6.3 of the Regulations Governing ASTM Technical Committees, which requires that standards shall be updated by the end of the eighth year since the last approval date.

The paper shall be in accordance with reasonable industry practice with regard to texture, formation, finish, caliper, lint, dust, slime spots, wrinkles, folds, and scuff marks. The functional requirements for which the papers shall be tested on and consequently adhere to are weight per unit area, opacity, bursting strength, thickness, Sheffield smoothness, moisture content, extract pH, and nominal sheet dimensions (length and width).
