The test methods may be used for quality control, product acceptance, or research and development. Classification D4676 prescribes percent volatile material as an important characteristic of rubber antidegradants.

1.1 These test methods cover the determination of the loss of volatile materials in various rubber chemicals based on the mass loss upon heating at 70°C.
