Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications, this guide was withdrawn in January 2020 in accordance with section 10.6.3 of the Regulations Governing ASTM Technical Committees, which requires that standards shall be updated by the end of the eighth year since the last approval date.

This guide’s use should be limited to artists whose work is not creating income. Artists who are in business or in other commercial or educational settings will usually be required to meet specific regulatory requirements.
