Standard Practice for Reporting Results of Exposure Tests of Paints — 5 стр.
Значение и использование

4.1 The standard report form contains the recommended minimum information needed to document adequately the results obtained from the visual evaluation or instrumental measurement of exposure tests of paint specimens. The report form example shown in this version is for guidance only. Rows and columns can be added as necessary to accommodate more specimens or more failure modes.

4.2 The report sections of the exposure test standards each have a list of requirements for evaluating the results. This practice serves to act as a uniform method for reporting those weathering defects.

4.3 This report form may be used as a final report form or a field copy to convey the ratings back to a more formal data entry system. If this manual form is used only as a field copy, it shall be maintained in the test files as a permanent reference.

4.4 The report form shown in Fig. 1 is only an example of how these criteria may be collated onto a single report page. Other formats, which include these factors, would also be acceptable. Other items may also be reported over and above these requirements.

4.5 In this practice, a eleven-to-zero scale is described that is widely used throughout ASTM International standards. The ten-point scale is also referenced by other standards organizations.

Область применения

1.1 This practice covers the use of a template for recording the results of exposure tests of paints.

1.2 This report form is primarily intended for the reporting of defects that are produced on painted substrates as a result of outdoor weathering exposure.

1.3 This report form may also be used to report results of exposure tests after laboratory accelerated exposure.

1.4 This practice officially documents the eleven point (ten-to-zero) scale for evaluations which has been widely used for many years to report both quantitative and qualitative effects.

1.5 Instrumentally obtained numbers may also be reported on this form. For example, instrumental gloss measurements can be entered in any of the columns as desired.

1.6 This practice is not intended for reporting the degradation effects on bare metals.

1.7 This practice may be applied both by individuals conducting their own evaluations and third-party testing laboratories.

1.8 Test laboratories may generate reports using their own software programs and including their own company logos provided that they comply with the minimum requirements of this practice.

1.9 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.10 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
