This specification does not address informational sounds produced by devices such as ECG monitors, surgical lasers, and electrocautery units.

Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee F29 on Anesthetic and Respiratory Equipment, this specification was withdrawn in March 2006 and superseded by IEC 60601-1-8.
