This specification provides the recommended criteria for specifying the construction of barrier systems for restricting access or ensuring human confinement, with the capability of defeating or seriously resisting any breaching attempts.

Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee F33 on Detention and Correctional Facilities, this specification was withdrawn in September 2008 in accordance with section 10.5.3.1 of Regulations Governing ASTM Technical Committees, which requires that standards shall be updated by the end of the eighth year since the last approval date.
