This standard specifies procedures and practices which are safe and environmentally accepta ble. It Covers the functional recommendations for design, construction, testing, commissionning,
operation and maintenance of underground gas storage facilities in aquifers up to and including the wing valve of the wellhead.
The necessary surface facilities for underground gas storage are described in EN 191 8-5. In this context "gas" is any gaseous fuel which is in a gaseous state at a temperature of 15C and under a pressure of 1 bar and which remains in a gaseous state under storage
conditions. This European Standard specifies common basic principles for gas supply systems. Users of this European Standard should be aware that more detailed national standards andlor codes of practice may exist in the CEN member countries. This European Standard is intended to be applied in association with these national standards andlor codes of practice and does not replace them. This standard is not intended to be applied retrospectively to existing facilities.

Die erforderlichen übertägigen Anlagen für einen Untertagespeicher für Gas werden in EN 19 18-5 beschrieben. In diesem Zusammenhang ist "Gas" jeder gasförmige Brennstoff, der sich bei einer Temperatur von 15 C und einem Druck von 1 bar in gasförmigem Zustand befindet und der unter Speicherbedingungen in gasförmigem Zustand verbleibt.
Diese Norm beschreibt die allgemeinen Grundsätze für Gasversorgungssysteme. Die Anwender dieser Europäischen Norm sollten sich bewusst sein, dass detailliertere nationale Normen und/oder
Technische Regeln in den CEN-Mitgliedstaaten existieren können.
Diese Norm soll in Verbindung mit diesen nationalen Normen und/oder Technischen Regeln angewendet werden und ersetzt sie nicht.
Es ist nicht vorgesehen, diese Nom rückwirkend auf bestehende Anlagen anzuwenden.
