1.1 This part of IS0 2898 establishes a system of designation for plasticized thermoplastic material which may be
used as the basis for specifications.
1.2 The types of PVC-P plastics are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on appropriate
levels of the designatory properties
a) Shore hardness
b) density
c)
and on information about physical form, intended application and/or method of processing, important properties,
additives and colorants.

1.3 This part of IS0 2898 is applicable to all plasticized compositions of homopolymers and copolymers that contain
at least 50 Yo (m/m) of vinyl chloride. It is also applicable to plasticized compositions containing chlorinated
poly(viny1 chloride) and to plasticized compositions containing blends of one or more of the above-mentioned polymers,
provided that the total amount of these polymers represents at least 50 % (m/m) of the polymer content of
the composition.
This part of IS0 2898 applies to materials ready for normal use in the form of powder (dry blends), granules or pellets,
unmodified or modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc.
This part of IS0 2898 does not apply IO cellular plastics or to paste compositions (plastisols).
1.4 It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation give necessarily the same performance.
This part of IS0 2898 does not provide engineering data, performance data or data on processing conditions which
may be required to specify a material for a particular application and/or method of processing.
If such additional properties are required, they shall be determined in accordance with the test methods specified in
part 2 of this International Standard, if suitable.

1.2 PVC-P-Formmasse-Typen werden mit Hilfe eines Einteilungssystems voneinander unterschieden, das auf

1.3 Dieser Teil von ISO 2898 ist anwendbar für alle weichgemachten Compounds von PVC basierend auf
Homopolymeren des Vinylchlorids, oder Copolymeren mit mindestens 50 YO Masseanteil Vinylchlorid, ferner für
weichgemachte Compounds, die chloriertes PVC enthalten und für Mischungen, die eins oder mehrere der
genannten Polymere enthalten, vorausgesetzt, daß deren Masseanteil mindestens 50 % des Gesamtpolymergehalts
der Mischungen beträgt.
Er gilt für gebrauchsfertige Formmassen in der Form von Pulver (Dryblends), Grieß oder Granulat, modifiziert oder
nicht modifiziert mit Farbstoffen, Additiven, Füllstoffen etc.
Diese internationale Norm ist nicht anwendbar für Schaumstoffe und für Pasten-Compounds (Plastisole).
1.4 Es soll nicht unterstellt werden, daß Formmassen mit gleicher Bezeichnung notwendigerweise auch Gleiches
leisten. Dieser Teil von ISO 2898 enthält keine technischen Daten, Leistungsangaben oder Verarbei-tungsbedingungen,
die notwendig sein können, um eine Formmasse für eine spezielle Anwendung undoder eine bestimmte
Verarbeitungsart zu spezifizieren.
Wenn solche zusätzlichen Eigenschaften gefragt sind, sollen sie, soweit möglich, mit Hilfe der in Teil 2 dieser Norm
festgelegten Prüfverfahren bestimmt werden.
