This International Standard specifies a method of test for the determination of resistance to sulfuric acid, at room temperature, of vitreous and porcelain enamelled articles, and also specifies a method for classifying the results. It is particularly intended for the testing of vitreous and porcelain enamelled articles that come into contact with products of combustion containing sulfuric acid.
It is not applicable to vitreous and porcelain enamels that come into contact with weak acids or hot strong acids or to vitreous and porcelain enamelled articles for use in the chemical industry.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Beständigkeit emaillierter Gegenstände gegen Schwefelsäure bei Raumtemperatur und außerdem ein Verfahren zur Einteilung der Ergebnisse in Klassen fest. Die Norm ist insbesondere für die Prüfung emaillierter Gegenstände, die mit schwefelsäurehaltigen Verbrennungserzeugnissen in Berührung kommen, bestimmt.
Die Norm ist nicht anwendbar für Emaillierungen, die mit schwachen oder mit heißen starken Säuren in Berührung kommen, sowie für emaillierte Gegenstände, die in der chemischen Industrie angewendet werden.
