Sie definiert auch Gütestufen in Abhängigkeit von Art und Anzahl der vorliegenden Fehlererscheinungen. Sie beruht auf einer Kombination der ISO-Normen ISO 4987 "Steel castings - Penetrant inspection" und ISO 9916 "Aluminium alloy and magnesium alloy castings - Liquid penetrant inspection".
